Preschool/ Kinder helpful tool

I am so excited about this handwriting activity I found. My son hates writing. I have been trying anything, I can find to get him to write. Today I found this Learn to Letter with guidelines. It takes handwriting paper and indents the letters. So you can write in the indented part and get the feel for it. If they are a hands on learner, they can feel the grooves. I am so excited I think it will be great for him.( I haven't tried it yet!) I will let you know how it goes. I found it at Wal-mart, for around $3.50. It is a new writing system by Mead. There are other activity books that looked fun too but this one I was excited about.

Summer camp! Day 7

Well camp was fun. I am glad that it is over. One week away from home is enough for me. K had a great experience. I would like to do it again next year, but I don't like the idea of missing agent E birthday again. So we will have to see.
One of the boys in the kitchen (14 years old) said other than my mom, you are the coolest mom I know! He said he was going to miss me! Wow! That is pretty amazing coming from a 14 year old boy! I do have to say for some unknown reason, I was known as the wild and crazy mom?! The camp director would ask me every morning so what did you do yesterday?
Mid week K went in the dunk tank. When I saw that I said, give me the first throw. With one try I dunked her. I was very proud of myself! So on the last day, I let her have revenge. I climbed up in the dunk tank. However she missed. Because I was such a cool mom, I let the kids who worked in the kitchen with me, take a shot as well. So needless to say, I got wet. It was fun. For now my camp adventures are done!

Summer Camp! Day 6

This week I was given a rare glimpse into the future. There was this amazing women named Rochelle at camp. She was the activities director. I love her. She is truely an amazing women. She reminds me of my little B. There looks and personality were a lot alike. Somtimes I have a hard time with the energentic silly girl. However I was very fond of the energentic silly women! She was very mature and yet funny all at once. I can only hope my B grows up to be a beautiful Godly women, while still able to mantain her God given goofiness!
B came up with the family to visit us. I was able to introduce them. They got along great. There is a real good picture of the 2 of them together. ( I hope I can get a copy of it!)
We spent the night on an air matteress on the dock! (Rochelles idea!) It was fun. Definitely not something I would have ever thought of!
We were able to go to a small town in Wi to watch the fire works. With Rochelle and another amazing girl Ally) We thought it would be a small short show. However it was one of the best showsI have ever seen. It was constant and never ending. It was a great night!

Summer Camp! Day 5

This was another hard day for me. I am missing my husband and kids! (sh! a few more tears!) I am such a baby! I have never been away from my husband this long! He is so sweet. Parents can send kids bunk mail. He sent me a bunk mail!!! He was also text messaging me. I haven't done that much. It made me feel like a love struck teenager! We need to be apart more often!
I forgot to tell you that k's group this week was coached by Maddie. She is one of the girls from the movie Stick It. It is a fun gymnastics movie. (pg-13, I am very picky about what my kids watch, however I did let her watch this) It was fun to hear all the behind the scenes secrets! K was excited to be coached by a movie star!
I was very proud of her today. She faced her fear and did somthing she really wanted to try. It was a bungee trampoline. They launch you about 50 feet in the air! She was able to do 4 back tucks before she came back down! She also dod a high ropes course. She is a lot braver than me! You couldn't pay me enough to try those things!
Just when I was hving a hard day the guy in the kitchen worked me to the bone. I worked 8.5 hours in the kitchen today, and I was at my breaking point! When it was only 6 hours I did not mind it, but every day he just kept finding more and more and more and more for me to do!!!!!!!
Stay tuned

Summer Camp! Day 4

Today was very exciting. (I don't know if you know much about Gymnastics.) Shannon Miller is the most decorated womens US gymnast. She was helping coach today! I took a picture of her helping K do a double back extension on the high beam! It was very exciting. Most girls can not do that skill. Shannon was very excited K could do it. Shannon use to compete it. She encouraged K to keep doing it, even if no one else is. It will help her to get noticed by the judges!
Because her gym brought 20 gymnast the got to have a private session with Shannon and she talked to them about facing fear! It was amazing. Somthing K will remember the rest of her life!
One of the girls in K's room was picked to be tucked in by Shannon Miller! So she got to have another Q & A session with her in her romm before bed. It was so cool! Things have been going so well for her this week. More adventures to come

Summer camp! Day 3

Today I am sad! It is my sons 5th birthday and I am not home. ( a little secret, I was even crying!) Sh! Don't tell! My husband called today, He told me my son does not even miss me! So that made me feel so much better! Right????
We celebrated his birthday before I left. He has a best friend agent H, and they were born the exact same day! I think that will make them friends for life. They are kinda like twins except they have different parents! They were always trying to figure out who is older. I think they finally figured out they are the same. So far they have not figured out to ask what time of the day! I hope we have a few more years before that happens. They went to Chuck E. Cheese together! It was a lot of fun.
However I have not missed any of my childrens birthdays ever! It just doesn't feel right! I know I took a side trip. So more about camp later!

Summer Camp! day 2

We survived the first night and she did not try to find me in the middle of the night! Wow it was strange to sleep in bunk bed with other women in dorm style setting. It brought back some of my own camp memories. I even got to have the top bunk. However as an adult I think the bottom is preferred. I was only about 6 inches from the ceiling! I bumped my head several times.
The kitchen is not so bad. At least I am in the lunch room most of the time. So I get to talk to all the people.( I am an extrovert-so that is fun to me!) I restock the salad bar and clean up the tables. The down part is all the other mom have the same schedule. They work end then they are done. I work 2hrs and the have a break, work 2 hrs then have a break, work 2 hrs then have a break. I never have a chunk of time off long enough to do anything. Some of the other moms have gone into town and gone shopping! I am not going to complain. I am going to be thankful! Stay tuned

Summer Camp! -Day 1

My daughter has been asking to go to gymnastics camp for years! First of all it cost a fortune. Secondly she gets scared sleeping at the neighbors! I finally came up with a plan. If I go as a camp mom, It is half priced and I would be there with her. So I submitted the application and waited! and waited! and waited! I told my daughter it must not have worked out because I did no hear anything.
Finally I decided to call. I was accepted but not as a camp mom, as the kitchen helper! Yeah me! I was still excited for her to have the opportunity. However a little leary of what a kitchen helper would entail.
The day has finally arrived for my daughter and I to drive off to camp. This was a very exciting time for us.( I have 4 kids) So to spend 3 hours of time just the 2 of us was rewarding in and of itself.
We arrived a little early. While we were looking around she saw one of her friends. Off they went together. Then I had to find somthing to do by myself! That was a wierd experience. I have not been alone like that in 15 years! I was happy to see her go off so quickly. Before she new it several different groups of her friends arrived and she did not know who to hang out with. She felt like she did not fit in with any of them and was crying in my arms. For the rest of the day she was glued to my side. Good thing I was there or she would have been wanting to come home!
By the evenning I taughter how to fit her self in a group and she was ok. Good thing because I had to go work in the kitchen! Stay tuned for more camp advetures!
